Catalonian
Mineral Collection
The
collection of Catalonian minerals, classified by districts
and donated by enthusiastic mineralogists, like Lluís Daunis,
Jaume Curto and Jordi Pubill is the most singular space of
the Mollfulleda Museum of Mineralogy.

A Museum hall is dedicated to the Catalonian Mineral Collection
In this hall, you can see samples from practically every Catalonian site, from the oldest to the latest findings in outstanding mineral pits as the ones in Gavà and Cardona.
The most interesting section of this exhibition is the paragenesis from Gualba, El Papiol and the mining areas of Súria, Sallent and Cardona –where the famous Salt Mountain stands. There is also a magnificent collection of Catalonian choraloides aragonites, calcites from Santa Creu d’Olorda and celestites, in big pieces, from Torà..
There is also an interesting and complete collection of geological maps, dated from 1893 to 1913, whose author was Jaume Almera.
This collection is a unique ensamble of Minerals from Catalonia and, as such, allows a wide research and knowledge of the Catalan Mineralogy.
